CREATURES OF THE DEEP
Jörmungandr
The World Serpent

Beneath every ocean the Vikings ever sailed, something waited.
WHAT LIES BENEATH
You would not have seen it coming. No Viking ever did.
The longship cuts through black water. Wind in the sail, salt on the lips, the horizon an endless
grey line between sea and sky. The crew knows the stars, knows the currents, knows how to
read the colour of the waves. They have crossed these waters a hundred times.
What they cannot know — what no human eye has ever confirmed — is what moves far below
them. Vast and slow and ancient beyond reckoning. Coiled around the roots of the world itself.
So enormous that its body encircles the entire earth and still its jaws find its own tail.
This is Jörmungandr. The Midgard Serpent. The World Serpent. The thing that holds the
ocean floor in place simply by existing.
“So vast it encircles the entire world — and still bites its own tail.”
